FAQs

What is a Chlorination?

Chlorination is a process that involves the addition of chlorine to potable water pipes, lines, and fixtures. This process disinfects and sanitizes the water lines which then provides clean drinking water for everyday use. In water treatment, chlorination is commonly used to kill bacteria and other harmful microorganisms, making the water safe for drinking.

Why Should I Chlorinate?

A Chlorination should be performed when new copper piping is introduced to a water system, if there is a suspected bacteria growth, or if their are heavy particulates in the water supply. Bacteria, water hardness, and particulates can be analyzed prior to a chlorination, through the process of Water Sampling.

How Long Does It Take?

A Chlorination typically takes 1-2 days to fully complete. Depending on the project, their are two options available for the chlorine levels to be held within the water system, one being 3 hours with a higher PPM, and the other being 24 hours with a lower PPM. After the chlorination is completed, a simple water sampling is then conducted, to make sure all water lines have been properly disinfected. Consult with us to see which option works best for your project.
